Doran Junek
Director

Mr. Junek is a fifth-generation cattle producer from Cuba, KS. Mr. Junek graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a BS degree in Agricultural Education. Mr. Junek’s working career has included teaching high school agricultural education, for which he received an Outstanding Young Agricultural Teacher award.

More recently, Mr. Junek managed the operations of the Kansas Cattleman’s Association (KCA) as its Executive Director and was instrumental in increasing its membership from 800 to 2500 members in just three years. As Director of the KCA, Mr. Junek became a spokesman for the beef industry on national animal identification and has addressed a wide range of audiences on various topics of importance to the beef industry. In this role, Mr. Junek facilitated the lobbying responsibilities of the association and was appointed to and served on the Governor’s Agricultural Advisory Committee.

Mr. Junek was also a member of the Bovine Species Working Group, which provides recommendations to the USDA regarding the National Animal Identification System (NAIS) for cattle. Mr. Junek became familiar with low frequency RFID technologies in beef cattle research at Cargill Animal Nutrition while involved with their source verification project called Beef Works and has also been involved in the research, development, and testing of an animal tracking system utilizing the capabilities of UHF RFID. Mr. Junek has developed a number of key industry contacts, including influential policy makers from the government, universities, production, packing and processing sectors.
